It will let me delete text but it won't let me add anything in.
What did I do to offend?
Did you read the Privacy statement? It says in there you can only add text when you first create your account. This is a precaution they took so that people can't go in and lie about who they are, and should they create a duplicate account it makes it easier to spot.

What do you mean it won't let you add anything? Is there no edit field? Do you get an error when you try to click the "make changes" button?
When I tab into the text box to write something, I can tab into it and the cursor flashes as if it's ready to accept information, but when I go to type, the cursor doesn't move and no text appears.
Annoying. Frown.
I've tried to enter text on both PC and Mac, in two different countries (i.e. PC in Canada and a Mac in England) and it won't work.
I can't help you with the Mac, but as far as the PC goes, when you were set on the form field/edit box, did you hit enter? Sometimes it won't work unless you hit enter, even though it should automatically open up the edit box when the cursor is on it.
Ryan, if I remember right, Kate is sighted, so wouldn't be using JAWS. Forgive me if I'm wrong Kate, and take Ryan's advice.
I notice the same behavior on the text for audio profile comments and on my user profile body text area. It happens whether I use Safari on the iMac or Firefox on the GNU/Linux netbook. I may have tried hitting 'enter' when entering the box, but will try again, in case I hadn't done, and it works.
Well, that changes things a bit. Lol. Didn't know that. I was wondering if you litterally meant you saw the cursor. Sorry for that.
I tried putting a newline at the beginning of my message in the free-form text area on my profile; no joy.
Am a crazy sighted woman, who is being driven insane trying to update her profile.
Tried to hit tab and then type. It didn't like that.

Oh well... it's not the end of the world, I suppose.
Not the end of the world; that's coming on the 21st. LOL. I would like this fixed; it used to work.
So, I just tested this by trying to edit both my profile, and my account settings. Both can be edited just fine. I tried deleting text, then adding other text. it appeared in all edit fields without issue. Just so you know, i tested this with Windows 7 64-bit, with Internet Explorer 9. I don't know if this is a browser issue, but I would try with another browser if you haven't already.
Tried with Safari, Epiphany, and Firefox. Any so-called "browser issue" is really a sight design issue.

if anyone else has been unable to edit their profile, could you please post here? we need to get a feel for how many people this is affecting. since I have been unable to reproduce the issue, I can't yet confirm that this is related to the site.
Hi, I have been having problems edditing as well. I thought it was just me. It seems to re peat the stuff from before in the profile. As well as the new text that I put in. I thouht maybe I hadn't eddited it properly.
Are all of us who have trouble editing profile free-form text or audio profile reviews running browsers other than IE? Does anyone who uses IE also have troubles? This all used to wirk, with any browser (even lynx).
I am having the same problem using firefox.
Funny enough this is the reason i logged in today to see if the profile editing was fixed and i found this topick.

Thanks, we're following this. We haven't made any changes in this code in years but ya never know. Maybe something up with the newer versions of Firefox, etc.
Still can't write anything in the profile box.
I tried eddting my profile again and it didn't work.
I think someone decided that editing profile shall only be possible with IE or very-old Firefoxes.

I just tried to edit the "about you" portion of my profile, and could only delete text, but not add any, or edit what's already there. I'm using jaws 13, with the latest version of firefox.
I was able to delete and add to mine as I wish. I have the newest version of Internet Explorer as my default browser.
I am using the latest versions of both NVDA and Firefox and cannot edit the about Me section of my profile. I tried typing text and pasting text, and neither worked.
My situation has been the same as the above poster: latest versions of both Firefox and NVDA and can only delete but not edit the About Me part of my profile, even if cutting/pasting it.
hopefully someone will actually look into this, but I have my doubts, since CL's hardly ever look at the boards nowadays.
Yeah, it would be nice if people were appointed who actually gave a damn, instead of talking with big intentions and then running away after they get the opportunity, or offering to do it when they know they have other priorities that will take away the time they need to give here.
